Don't know if anyone actually noticed my absence/limited access of ECF for the past couple of weeks - been going through a lot of personal "Stuff" like most everyone else (Birthday/Death/sadness/depressed), including having my access to the internet extremely limited given "My" Laptop's Hard Drive stopped working . . . However for the past 2 weeks and with much GRATITUDE and Overwhelming - THANKS - to an ECF Friend of "Ours" and an absolute "Miracle" worker and "MENCH" . . . "My" Laptop computer is back up and running - since they were able to "FIX" the hard drive . . . AND - Not least of all - saved "Me", especially since I was a "fool" that didn't "Back-up" their files often enough (last time was 3 years ago) . . . Not one of my 16 years of files vanished / were lost to "Me' any longer either . . . :D  :D  :D  :D  :D

Now - I do not have to just rely on an outdated, limited and not up-gradable 10 Year old XOOM Tablet to peck and paw my way through ECF. . . . As some people might already know from previous post during huricains, I really dislike and have difficulty "Typing" on a Tablet that is so outdated that it refuses to open a number of website - NOT NICE :-x . . . AND - A using a smart phone for internet access is worse . . . :censored:

Anyway - While I would like to make a few replies and I know I've missed many personal memorial moments, too many to post a proper Birthday, Anniversary, Vapeaversary, etc. Greeting marking "Your" Day . . . So I hope Ya' will just all accept a simple, but just as important and heartfelt:

Good morning. Looks like it's going to be a lovely day here today and tomorrow will be mostly sunny as well. That's a good thing because someone in our neighborhood arranged to have a food truck set up right in our cul-de-sac tomorrow (Mexian cuisine). I've called in our order already and we just have to pick it up. Our daughter is coming with her family so we'll have to clean the pool. At least I won't have to spend my time in the kitchen putting food together. Looking forward to having a nice day tomorrow!

Good morning! It's a gorgeous day today. Only going up to 73 so not a hot pool day, but I'm betting some of the kids will go in anyway.

The skies are perfectly clear for a change, but wouldn't you know it, the ISS is not viewable in this area until the 24th. Guess it's only going to be overhead when the clouds are here.

Yep, if the pool has water that's more than 33 o F, they'll go in. After all, it's just a huge puddle ;)

You're right, they did. 3 year old Hux was shivering like crazy, but didn't want to get out. They had a great time!

I'm a bit of a stargazer myself and have seen the ISS a few times, although, I still haven't been able to catch it in my telescope. I keep up on its location with https://www.calsky.com/ I get a daily email as to what is happening in the skies above. Another thing I use is a simulation program called Stellarium. It is free software and packed with information.
You are probably already familiar with the above information but I wanted to mention it just in case you weren't.

Good morning all :)

I have a friend who is a recovering addict and I was reading about the things to do or not to help an addict. Somewhere along my reading I came up with this information. I was familiar with the poem below that apparently is associated with addiction treatment programs but not the rest of the story.

“God, grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change;
Courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.”

And here is the unabridged Serenity Prayer, written by Reinhold Niebuhr (1892–1971), dean and professor of Applied Christianity at Union Theological Seminary in New York City:

“God, give us grace to accept with serenity
the things that cannot be changed,
Courage to change the things
which should be changed,
and the Wisdom to distinguish
the one from the other.

Living one day at a time,
Enjoying one moment at a time,
Accepting hardship as a pathway to peace,
Taking, as Jesus did,
This sinful world as it is,
Not as I would have it,
Trusting that You will make all things right,
If I surrender to Your will,
So that I may be reasonably happy in this life,
And supremely happy with You forever in the next.”

Lovely sentiments by which we can all live, whether we are religious or not.

And here’s what blooming in the greenhouse

Always loved that prayer.

Your flowers are gorgeous as usual. I especially like the top one.

Thanks for the info! I've saved the link so I can look into it more later. We don't often have clear night skies so cool celestial events usually happen behind the clouds. Between that and more and more ambient light in this area as it gets built up makes viewing harder too. Still, it's worth it to look up anyway because you never know. EarthSky News sends me articles and interesting happenings in the skies but I haven't gone too much further in depth than that.

Good morning. Pretty foggy here earlier, but now it just looks hazy. The garden needs watering, but I held off yesterday because it was supposed to rain - it didn't. Today we could get T-storms again, but only 30% chance. What to do? What do you want to bet if I water today we'll get the rain.

Happy Father's day to all the great dad's out there and all the great dads who proceeded us!

I have had this for many years. I should sell it I suppose cause when I am gone, my family will just toss it out.

My Mom collected 1st Day Issues for years. I have multiple albums full of of them. It's possible that one is in her collection. Someday I'll have to figure out how to get her albums appraised and then sold.

Good morning and Happy July! (It's gotta be better than June). Our 2 kids and their families are coming over o Friday to celebrate July 4 a day early. Fortunately Michael and Brian like to grill so they'll make the burgers and dogs and I'll supply the deviled eggs and somebody is bringing salads. Somebody will bring a dessert.

Mike gets his hair cut today!! Yay!! And I'm getting mine cut tomorrow! It's been 5 months since our last cut and my style particularly doesn't grow in well. The good thing about having to wear a mask and sun glasses is that it disguises a person with bad hair very nicely!
