Hmmm, maybe export controlled in a large quantity. I wonder if that would hold true for being controlled in an assembly. For example, precut to specific lengths (2.5") or already made into coils?

I have been in contact with omega.co.uk (uk arm of omega) and they have tried but been refused due to import restrictions, they can only offer the silica version, anybody tried this?

Export controlled means export controlled, quantity is not a factor. In my job in the Army we were trained on it, and in my current job for an international company we get it drilled into us every couple months.
Chances of getting caught using small amounts, no idea. Effect of getting caught, not worth it.
What is the product number for the silica, I'll give it a try.

Cheers Poppa D, product number is XS-116, it's still a sleeve but silica as opposed to ceramic

Poppa, how would you feel about comparing all XS, XC4, against XC? and sharing the info with Imeo?
I've been hoping to find somebody willing to do this.
Womblebat, good find.
It's amazing how hard a person will search when one door slams shut hard![]()
Little bit more info on the XS-116, it's rated at 982 degrees C (1800 F) continuous, how does this compare to the ceramic sleeve? i'm assuming by the very nature of ceramic, the ceramic will handle a lot more heat
